Taking a trip to Philly ... well, the wife's attending some conference related to her job, and she doesn't want to go alone. I guess I get to play 'Mr. Cabdriver' for the long weekend ...

Project time on the Thing this weekend ... new interior kit and a desert camo paint job in the garage. Marine Cpl sonofbobbo will make an appearance at home before he heads out to scout/sniper school so lady stonebobbo will be a bit teary-eyed (from pride) on the 4th, especially during the local fireworks show.

We went to the "Salute to America" concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra last night. John P. Sosa, America the Beautiful, and the 1812 Overture with cannons and fireworks. Great night. I had not seen the DSO live in a long time. I was bummed that they did not play the "Beef...it's what's for dinner" theme.
And they didn't play Sweet Home Alabama either.

Ya know...that didn't feel right when I typed it either.
The DSO did a "Military Honors" selection. They played the themes to the 5 branches of service and asked that those who served stand during their song. I was suprised at the few number of people who stood up. There was over 7,000 people there and I could only find one guy who was standing for the Coast Guard. Even the major branches had just a handful. This lead me to think about how small the percentage must be of those who serve in the military.

Going to watch my daughter in two drama productions she's involved in. Why? Something special happening?

We have friends that have 52' boat on the Jersey Shore. Gonna achor off-shore overnight and watch the displays from various seaside resorts . . .

(Being that Wednesday is Jeanette's 50th, it'll be cause for a little extra heart-ay to the Par-Tay . . .)

Just got back. Sanded and stained the front of the cabin. Hardest 4 days of work I've done in a long time. Took time for a couple nice boat rides. It was especially nice when the 1985 outboard started right up, even though it hadn't been out in two years.

Or, perhaps the vast majority of those who serve are, in fact, off serving.

For the record, our county Sherrif reported, as of yesterday, eight illegal fireworks calls with no tickets or arrests. I was not one of them. Although, I must say I'm trying. :D You have to love it when the people on the other side of the field are applauding and hollering. Guess it's a good show. ;)
