Oh yeah...
They do put on a good show. I have not missed a Detroit Who concert since '71.
I wonder who will be playing bass this time?

Hit this link for some video. WHO stuff

Also on tour will be keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick and bassist Pino Palladino.

I first saw the Who back in '74 with Keith Moon. After his passing, I've seen them 3 more times including the Quadrophenia tour. However now, it just can't be the Who without John Entwistle. He's irreplaceable as an element to the sound of the band.

Agreed. No one plays "lead bass" like Entwistle did.
The last tour did lack that aggressive bass but it was still a very good show.
The Detroit date is 9/29.

Cliff, did you watch the Who video where Moon passes out and the audience member fills in?

I haven't gotten that far yet, Stephen . . .

Just finished watching (in stages) the "LetItBe" disk(s).
I've been a Beatles fan since Sullivan, and strangely enough, I never saw the film. Thanks for that!!

I saw bits&pieces of it when it aired on networkTV. At the time, I was with the ex who wasn't a huge Beatles fan, so it was "Oh, not this again . . ." What I saw I lked.

No wonder. That should have been a clue right there!
BTW...There is supposed to be a new WHO documentary in theaters this fall.

Has anyone listened to this yet:

Live at Leeds Deluxe

I'm curious as to whether it's worth the money.

Yeah..I have it (duh?)
If you like the original release, you'll like this. It's more of the same.
A word of critisim about the "Tommy" set. Near the end they get kinda sloppy. Well..not kinda sloppy... very sloppy (IMHO). Because of the last few songs I don't think they would ever release it as "LIVE TOMMY" unless it was an extra bonus thing. I think they were running out of gas by then.

Stephen;

I popped that Who-thing in while I was re-stringing four guitars last evening.

I didn't get t'see Moon "collapse", but it only held my attention for a short time due to the picture/sound quality . . . where was that filmed from? the ATM in the venue lobby??

I'll watch it again when I can give it more attention . . .

Cliff, bootleggers can't be too choosy. They seem to record and collect events with whatever might be available. I believe that show was filmed at the cow palace in San Francisco. Moon collapses from his drink being spiked with tranqs.....amazing he lasted as long as he did. The collapse occures around the 95 minute mark until the 100 minute mark. Then Townshend asks the crowd is anyone can play the drums and up pops a dude who finishes out the set. Wouldn't that have been a major rush!

Greetings from Sodom
How we wish you were here
The weather's getting warmer
Now that the trees are all cleared
There's no time for a conscience
And we recognize no crime
Yeah we got dogs and Valvoline
It's a pretty damn good time

Cool on the toy matinee...I thought you might like that one. I nearly wore it out for a year after I got it.

If you like The Who stuff I can send you some more...Tanglewood which is the last complete performace of Tommy from the original band. Some stuff when Kenny Jones took over drums....got an incredible direct feed from the sound board from their last Japaneese tour.....few others.

With the last tour you were able to buy a CD set for the entire concert from every venue. They came right off the sound board...warts and all. All the procceds went to kids charities.
Between that and all the video The Who offer, who needs bootlegs anymore?

Someone who wants to see the original Who back in the sixties and early 70's.....not the commercial drivel they have become over the last few years.

I was actually talking video DVD's...not just music CD's. I can't even imagine that they would call themselves The Who anymore.

It should be the Daltry/Townshend tour.

I got my tickets. Half way up the main floor...Pete's side.
I could have paid $100 more each and got a bit closer but I'm not that crazy. A little crazy...but not that crazy.
Interesting.....With all the Who concerts I have been to I have always ended up on Pete's side of the stage.

Should be an excellent show and tour but I still think they should drop the WHO name and go with Townshend/Daltry....maybe mention "of the WHO" or something to that effect.

Just don't believe when someone as intergral to the sound as Entwistle is no longer around that it should be referred to as a band.
