I've got a new LX guitar & am having a weird issue where the A string causes something to vibrate & hum inside the guitar. (& the pickup is picking it up & amplifying it) but it's not fret buzzing.

It sounds like it's coming from the saddle but nothing seems loose.

Is it possible that something inside the saddle pickup is vibrating or has anyone else experienced something similar???

Much thanks,
Jim

This happens and long strings with simple fixes end up. Let me offer what I've seen so far.

Remove the preamp from the pocket and set it aside.

Remove any strap or attachments.

Play - if still there, keep going.
Pop the hatch and look/feel for losse or un secured wires.
Look for anything that may be hanging loose following manufacture. Glue globs, epoxy residue, etc.

Still there?

Loosen the strings and pull the bridge - push up on wire from inside.
Reset and place bridge in place.

Look for loose tuner knuts.

Still there?

Hellifino!!!

Thanks for your reply... I'll try it all again but I think I've done it all so far & still hear the vibration.

I've Removed the TRC
Dampened all the tuners
Removed the back
Removed the Electronics
Checked for loose wires
Checked the strap pins
Checked the bolts
Checked for loose bracing
Checked for loose stuff inside
Tightened the truss rod

Still a resonant buzz on an open A string.. that the pickup amiplifies...

I would think if it were a simple loose something, that the pickup would not amplify the issue but being that it does... I'm confused...

See if the nut is cut too wide for the A string.

I had a similar problem with my Adamas.

I finally discovered that the little self adhesive cable clip had come loose inside the bowl and one (or more) of the wires was buzzing against the bowl.

I removed the clip and secured the wires together with a couple of cable ties, problem solved.

I had a problem with some vibration coming from underneath the bridge on my 1778LX, so I opened up the bowl cover, and the input wire had a tip cover which would rotate on the wire. I tightened the cover and put everything back in place, and I think that fixed the problem.

I had a vibration problem with my Adamas also and my first thought was a loose brace; it only did it while playing an A chord. Turned out to be the sliding battery door vibrating because there was no battery installed; I put a battery in and the vibration vanished :)

My mystery buzz was generated from the strap lock. The strap was a little thin, and the Dunlop strap lock's flat metal washer would occassionally vibrate. But it sounded like it was coming from inside the guitar. Solution: Add a spacer washer to eliminate any air gap between the straplock and the strap.

It's usually something simple. Mine was a pick stuck in the strings of the 12 string sitting across the room. I could have sworn it was in the guitar I was playing.

Tim,
Same thing on mine. I used a small piece of leather lace to put between the washer and the strap.

I have a new one: if I capo at the third fret and play strong, I have a pretty bad fret buzz... I mean I think it's fret buzz. Can't be certain, but I might raise my action. :(

You guys just don't play loud enough for long enough! I can't hear any of that stuff any more.

As a bonus, I don't hear most of my wifes muttering either, only the stuff she shouts when I can see her lips.
