I recently purchaced the Fishman Rare Earth "Blend" acoustic soundhole pick-up with active electronics. The Blend is a humbucking pick-up with condenser mic. Mono and easily rigged for separate stereo out.

It has a "Blend" control which allows you to mix the balance between pick-up and mic. This offers a lot of range from bright and punchy to warm and soft.

it is a very good pick-up with surprising output. Exceptionally quiet and has a very natural acoustic sound and great string to string balance.

Design and maunfacture are first rate. It comes ready to be installed permanently as an endpin jack or for temporary use outside the body.

It'll fit any round center hole guitar.

Specs:
Max Output:
- Rare Earth Humbucking P/Up= -6dBu RMS
- Mic= -6dBu RMS
Output Noise Level:
-PUp=<98Bu RMS, A-Weighted
Output Impedence:
-Mic=<1.2kOhm
Reccommended Minium Load Impedance:
-Mic=10kOhm
Supply Voltage:
-Mic= 3.0-3.6
Current Consumtion:
-PUp&Mic=1.1mA
Battery Life:
- >140 hours

matrix asked:
Did you have any problems with the different size hole
After thinking it over, I just let this drop.

Used rare earth blend for couple of years and found it to be the best soundhole pickup I've ever been around. Surprised me by the natural acousitc sound that can be achieved. Accomodates different thickness tops easily.

Matrix, you can almost always find the advice you are seeking if you search through the pile of turds.

I keep looking for turd piles, but stumble upon all this usefull information instead! Seriously though, some of us have better taste in sick jokes than others, and some have shorter fuses. I try not to offend, and I'm sorry if I have, but if someone prints something I find offensive, I just let it slide. It's childish humor, not Satanism or terror plots. Also, as Miles stated in his 'Recent Observations' column, anyone can theoretically read any of these threads at any time with the correct google search, so it's good to practice some restraint. Anyway, I see bad jokes as a small price to pay for some of the great information that can be found around here. Just my 2 cents.

Brainslag...does that mean that if some demented crazy is doing a Google search for "turd piles", he will automatically be directed here

No wonder Ovation has a bad name in some circles :D
