Just curious....I know there were a few of the orginal slotheads produced with a wide neck. Does anyone know the width of these guitars?

Also, how does that compare to the FD14 and U681T necks?

Hi Stephen,
I just sent you a private mail with informations regarding WN slotheads. Sorry for doing like that but i wished to add images on this reply, and didn't understand the right way to do it. It is requested an URL, and i just don't know what it could be ... :)

Original adamas with widenecks (slotheads, Adamas I and Adamas II) were 1-7/8 width. Same as Josh Whites and Folklores.

FD14, Folklore LX, Premier and U681 have 1-3/4 width neck which is not only slightly narrower but it is also quite a lot thinner front to back.

Ok, a step further...which would you rather have, the 1 3/4 or the 1 7/8 kneck...and why?

You have to consider the profile and depth of the neck as well as the width. The depth (front to back) is a bigger factor for me than the width. The FD14 is the best neck I ever played. It's a C shape and very shallow. It happens to be 1-3/4 at the nut, but I think it's the depth and
shape that make it feel so "right" to be. This same shape and dimensions was copied on my A2 slothead. Dave

Dave, how does that differ from the U681 neck?

U681 feels deeper. FD14 is very flat.
