Location: Chicago area | Been adjusting the action on my new 6778LX and down to ONE of the thicker spacers. I am fearful that if I swap that out for the thinner spacer, I may get into buzz territory. What I will likely need is some thinner options to fine tune the action. Since I don't have a cnc maching handy, does anyone have recommendations on material and process for handcrafting some homemade spacers? I assume that any hard material will suffice (similar to the pcb board type material in the stock spacers, and I aslo assume that I want NO taper and that it should be EXACT shape in order to fully seat the bridge/pickup to the guitar top.

Location: New Hampsha | I have made shims out of brass shim stock - easy to mark and can be cut with scissors. Just don't run when cutting. |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | Fearful? Just take it out and try a different combination of thick and thin spacers. Give the truss rod a little tweak.
I suppose you could clip out a piece of a beer can. |

Location: Chicago area | Thanks Al, I had actually not thought of that. Are there only 2 thicknesses of spacers? There were 2 sizes that came with my LX. One is a thinner dark brown one, and a thicker lighter tan colored ones. I only have 1 of the thinner ones, and perhaps 2 of those would be less than the thick (beige) one that is in the guitar now.

I have the same guitar AND had the same situation. I took out all the shims and the action was just perfect for me with no buzzing, BUT the break angle was so shallow that tone really suffered. I actually sent it back to the factory where they changed the neck angle (and installed XLR).
Now I have 1 thick shim and 1 thin shim...and everything is just perfect.

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I use styrene plastic strip stock by Evergreen Scale Models in thicknesses of .010", .020" and .030" from a well-stocked hobby shop. Buy the width just under what you need in those thicknesses, cut to length and add shims made that way to get the thickness you need. Has worked fine for me.
