At the OFC NE gathering last weekend, someone suggested a jam on George Harrison's song Something. Not many there knew it. When I got home I pulled out an old sheet music book of Beatle's tunes to learn the song. Most of the chords were familiar, except Am(#7). It comes in at:

Am ----------------------Am(#7)
I don't want to leave her now,

Am7 ----------------- D9
You know I believe and how

After figuring out that #7 in the A minor was a G#, I found that the chord was easy to play (High E to Low E):

5-5-5-6-7-5

It's a cool sounding chord that's somewhat recognizable in other Harrison/Beatle tunes.

Nobody asked ME to play it. I know it by heart. Now ... everyone capo 5 frets and join in.

...it's the second chord in the 4-chord descending progression used in SUMMERTIME, MICHELLE, TASTE of HONEY, etc., ie:

Am, AmM7, Am7, Am6

...played by dropping half step each time the note on the 4-string of the barre chord Am at fret five, ie:

..Am = 5,7,7,5,5,5
AmM7 = 5,7,6,5,5,5
.Am7 = 5,7,5,5,5,5
.Am6 = 5,x,4,5,5,5

...or, alternatively (long stretch but sounds cool!):

.Am6 = 5,9,7,5,5,5

...a very "nice" substitution for AmM7 is C7+5, especially the four-note fingering on the 4-treble strings:

E|--8 (root)
B|--9 (+5)
G|--9 (3rd)
D|--8 (7th)
A|--x
E|--x
