Just got the new G7 version for the 12 string and it works incredibly well. Probably a little longer than it needs to be but better than being borderline short.

I am thinking of selling off my regular G7 capo since this 12 string version does 6 strings equally as well (although there is about an inch overhang).

Probably sell for $25 if anyone is interested, let me know and you will get first dibs if I decide to let it go.

Hi Stephen,

I've got a G7 for 6 strings and I'm looking for a 12 strings model.
Unfortunately, this one seems not to be available in France!!
Do you know where I can find one???

Thanks

J :)

G7 12 string capo

This is where I got mine.

I would think Templeman would have some available.

Classical G7's arrived a few days ago. 12 string versions have been back ordered for ages, but are due imminently.

I highly recommend it. This one and the Schubb are the best 12 string capos I have ever used.

Good enough Bruce. :D

Consider it my gift to you. ;) (we are talking the 6 string version...right?)

You should get it sometime towards the end of next week!

Stephen, I haven't had the chance to use one of these yet - how does it work? Do you find a lot of use for it on a regular basis?

The Schubb and G7 capos are the most reliable that I have come across. Some of the others might clip on quicker but I find that sometimes the strings tend to be muffled a bit when open....never a problem with the G7 or Schubb.

The principal is simple..it changes the key of the guitar depending on which fret you place it behind (goes behind the fret, not in the middle). This works well when you need to change the key to make it easier to sing a song without having to transpose a bunch of chords.

I assumed Andrew was asking about the actual mechanics of the G7, not what the purpose of a capo is... I thought you were being sarcastically literal ala 'Airplane':

"We must get these people to a hospital!"
"... a hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with lots of patients..."

...and might I add that niether you NOR Tom have posted satisfactory reviews of your new instruments. I find this inexcusable... get on it SlackAss

Hmmm, I see your point but since he asked if I found a lot of use for it, I assumed he was referring to the value of a capo!

I don't guess the excuse that I have been too busy playing it and comparing it to the 1688 is gonna fly!

Jeff, thanks for the permission...

Actually, Stephen, I was more referring to what I mistakenly thought you have, which is the alternate-tuning capos that Temp carries...guess I got my wires crossed somewhere.

You said yours is a 12-string model...mechanically, does it work as well as one on a 6-string, or does it suffer from lack of appropriate tension? I should have my first 12-string in a few days, and will most likely want a capo for it.

Andrew, the G-Bands from Temp are really cool. They give a lot of interesting variations that are fun to play with. As far as I know, they only come in the 6 string version.

The 12 string capo works great on a 6 string which is why I was offering the 6 string version up for sale. On the other hand, the 6 string version does not work as well on the 12 string neck.
