Random quote: “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” -Plato

My copy of "The History of the Ovation Guitar" and other guitar books just arrived. I found them on Craigslist. It came with a similar book on the Telecaster and a book called "Blue Guitar" by Ken Vose. That one looks pretty interesting - it's about a guitar that Jimmy D'Aquisto built - a lightning blue archtop called the D'Aquisto Centura Deluxe. A collector challenged 22 luthiers to make their own interpretations of the guitar. It looks like a pretty interesting read.

Any other recommended reading on the subject?

They're still writing it, phil. A lot of that history hasn't even happened yet and some of it starts on these pages.

I found one in a Barnes and Noble about a year ago when I was waiting for the female relatives to shop for clothes. If they wouldn't have taken so long I might not have found the book and may not have started down this slippery Ovation slope. It's all their fault.

I found a hard cover version on the Bay about six months ago for less than new at Amazon. I think it may have been discounted because the former owner wrote his name in it. Some guy named Bill . . .

I have maybe two dozen books on guitars, mostly Fender, and this one is my favorite. It is a great reading history book on Leo Fender and how he developed his early products, and how he and his partners built up the company in the very early years. For somebody like me who grew up in Southern California in the 60's playing surf music, this book is wonderful.

Philmax,
I'll loan you my copy of "the book". I'll bring it next Sat. to the gathering.
