Ray Davies on Austin City Limits tonight playing what looks to be an O Viper, but in a turquoise-burst. Not really blue, not really green. But, the stage lighting might be messing with the color. Either way, I've never seen any other than tobacco burst. Anyway, maybe it's not a Viper, as it has a center soundhole, not multi-hole.

Is Ray an O endorser? What is it he was playing? Anyone else catch it?

Looked like an older Legend to me; bound neck, Op-24 style controls. I agree on the color; years ago he used to use a white Ovation shallow-bowl.

Yes, a legend, only caught a few minutes at the end. How many songs did he do with the O?

I must have been thrown off by the soundhole plug...made it look like the body was solid. And my viewing angle towards this silly HDTV thing is acute, so mebee that's why the back looked flat. Or, it could've been the Smithwicks and Harp. ;)

I think he must've played the O on three or, maybe, four songs. It was a good show, I thought. He truly desrves his reputation as rock's most literate, witty lyricist.

In the Atlanta area we have 2 PBS stations. The "real" Austin City Limits airs on Saturday night on channel 30, and they rerun the same show the following Friday night on channel 8, so we have another chance to watch the Ray Davies ACL this Friday.

Also of note - This Friday night, PBS has:
1) Get Up, Stand Up - history of pop and protest. I've seen this... doesn't it feature Josh White?

2) Best of the Beatles

3) Concert for Bangladesh Revisited

Ray is someone I would love to see. I sure wish he would do a tour with the Band and perhaps do an acoustic set. He wrote some great music and he's another one of those musicians who leaves a mark on it all.
