What's a best sounding (acoustically) Ovation cut-aways? Any opinions on the best sounding Adamas cut-aways?

Thanks.

I have a DiMeola Custom Legend that I am rather fond of.
I have found that with the wood tops I generaly prefer the acoustic sound of the center hole models over the multi hole.

My opinions:

Adamas cutaways = 1581 w/ single side epaulets

Ovation cutaways = Al Dimeola II, 1547, '87 Collector, '05 Collector

2 + 2 = 4
5871 divided by 4.287 = 1369.489153
deep bowl = good acoustic sound
.
These are certainties of life.
The only uncertanty is the compleation date of Al's garage.

My understanding, Brad, is that Al's garage is the project God's going to get on after that Hell freezing over deal is in the books.

The real trick is that the deep bowls just have the best sound.

That said, bass-side soundholes are my preference on the deep bodies, like the 1581 Adamas or 06 collectors.

Personally, my favorite guitar to play is my 1881 Adamas SSB, but I usually play plugged in. Great sound, but it doesn't compete with the deeper bowls.

Tuppy nailed it.

Since I own/owned all said guitars except the ADII, I would have to say the 1581 RI is a fantastic cutaway adamas and the woodtop guitars mentioned are some of the finest sounding I have ever had the pleasure to play or listen to.

Is the 1581 an SMT top? Have they made, or anyone ever played, a mid-bowl CVT top with just bass side soundholes? Curious if the CVT top would help compensate for the loss of any treble response.

Thanks guys. Looks like there's only about 5 cutaways that are really in the running. This helps my shopping immensely.

Has anyone played or heard the new 2007 Collector?

The Mill-CB Millennium edition should be mentioned here too. Looks like a CVT, sounds more like a textured top.

It's my favaroite cutaway model.

"That said, bass-side soundholes are my preference on the deep bodies, like the 1581 Adamas or 06 collectors." ...

I have one of these and agree. But I was wondering if the bass side soundholes actually accent the bass sound, OR if it is really just louder to the player, due the total output sound being concentrated closer to the players ear???

I expect to have a review within the next couple weeks on the 2007 - so I'll pass that along when they get into stock and get checked out.

Vince, I tried this with the soundhole comparison. I was in a store and had someone listen while I played, first on a 1778LX, and then on a 1778T with only bass holes, and the review was that the Elite T had a deeper, warmer tone that was equally as loud, but tipped more towards the lower end, while the LX with both was more balanced throughout the range.

There's a lot to be said, IMHO, for the bass-only holes. Look, Tacoma, McPherson, and now Adamas all have major production models with bass-only single soundholes - I think it makes for a much warmer-sounding guitar overall.

At least I like it. :D

I played the '07 Proto briefly last spring. It was very much like a typical Elite LX Contour with some nice electronics and different cosmetics. If you like that type of guitar and the cosmetics are worth the extra money to you, then you'd be very pleased with the '07.
