I have a scratch (more of a rub) mark on top of my W597 - any ideas how to easily remove it? I thought about buffing, waxing, compounding etc. and don't know the best way.

Thanks, Pete

You can find clearcoat scratch remover at any auto supply store that is a very very fine compound. It will remove all but the deepest scratches on any gloss finish without leaving swirl marks or other damage. Stick with a name brand, such as 3M or McGuires (sp?). Then you can go over it with a good carnuba such as Dunlop 65 bodygloss. As always, start lightly and try a small area first, as no one knows exactly what the outcome will be beforehand.
Pete, it looks like you are just a little north of me, I live in Ft. Myers.

Hi Neighbor,

Thanks for the info - I'll look at the auto supplies. Ready for the tourist season? I'm looking
for a new musical interpretation of polkas in case the audience heard it last year...

Cheers,
Pete

My W597 used to get a dull spot where I braced the fingers of my strumming hand. I would periodicly buff it out with Nu-finish auto polish and a soft cloth. Seemed to work fine and didnt appear to cause any harm.
