I know the month is almost over, but I couldn’t let it go by without “chiming in” . . .

Lots of people have asked how I came about this guitar.

While Al has “The FULL Story” from me for something he’s working on, here are just some of the “highlights”:

In 1976, I buy my first “real” guitar ('76 CustBalladeer) from Ackerman’s Music in Midland Park, NJ.
After my purchase, the owner (Mrs. Ackerman) proudly shows me the above guitar that she got “from the Owner of the Company”.
Guitar was selling for $2,800 (in “1976” dollars)

Weeks later, I take a good friend of mine (that I’ve known since kindergarten) who was (& still is) an avid guitar player, to go see it.

A year or two later, said friend sells his 1964 CORVETTE and buys the guitar (for $2400).

YEARS later, my friend goes through a very messy divorce and needs money.
He decides to keep his first two guitars (early 70’s maple Strat and LP GoldTop) and liquidate the rest, including the Adamas.
Being that I was the one who “found” it, he thought it should rightly go to me . . . but I couldn’t afford it.
He works out a deal with my (then)wife, and I get the guitar on my 41st birthday.

Years later, I go through a messy divorce myself, and the ex decrees that the guitar stays with her as it was a gift from her.
Sometime later, she’s magnanimous enough to relinquish the guitar to me in order to sell it.

Another very good friend of mine makes a loan to me, using the guitar as collateral (even though he never held onto it).
A few months later, I repaid my friend, and it’s been mine ever since.

I’ve been a very fortunate individual, and there a lot of people that I’m very grateful to
(not in the least, being Charlie & Bill).

Perhaps after all the 1187-247's have rolled out of the mothership, you can talk the powers to be to rollout a limited edition 35th anniversary model 1187-754. Surely, they can't claim that they've lost money on the #47 RI's.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains		Let’s see . . . original slothead in 1976 for $2,400, #47RI in 2006 for (about) $4,000 . . . represents a 67% increase in 30 years.

As I recall, I bought a mid-level 1976 Dodge station wagon new in 1976 for $4,600 whereas a new Dodge Magnum mid-level station wagon in 2006 is about $28,000 . . . representing a 509% increase.

Makes the 47RI look like a terrific deal, doesn’t it?
