Came across this web page while googling for luthiers and got a little curious so I looked a little closer. Don't think that it will be the new way to design guitars, but still some interesting things to learn about the instrument. ;) |

Nice alternative way of thinking, I guess. That picture hurts my eyes, though, a bit like that surrealist painting of the never-ending staircase...

Location: Round Rock, TX | Have these people never heard of bends? Also I see that alternate tunings are out. So, as long as you stay within a half step of EADGBE (drop-D is right out), don't do any bends (or pull-offs), don't use wound thirds, or strings heavier than .11-.50, then this would be ideal - apart from the need to adjust your entire technique.

Location: Snåsa, Norway | OK, I made this post mainly because I thought the crazy look of the meantone blues fretboard is funny. However, the theme of temperament really is a serious matter in musical theory, just google for "musical temperament" or look here .
The novax fanned frets and other methods to improve intonation is actually a different cup of tea than what the guys behind truetempered guitar are trying to make.
Really not anything you really would like to dig deep into, but nice to be aware of, and as someone here mentioned bending (and slide playing) in the blues actually make the "blue" tones of meantone temperament available on a guitar with straight frets!
