That is too funny! Not quite the vibe I'm after... Then again, I have pretty much considered the '88 the "shredder Ovation" ever since I noticed all those frets. :) (Hey Al, do you think I should get the fretboard scalloped?) I have not determined what bridge I want to you BUT I have a hip shot b bender that is just screaming for something to do. sperzels for the tuners...now if I only had the time to put it together... I think I may have to farm this project out. oh and to answer your question GO FOR IT

A bender guitar is a major part of my style & I've used just about every B-bender on the market, including the Parsons-White, one of Jim Glaser's triple benders & the Tokai/Brooks bender. My favourite was designed & built by a friend of mine & is similar to the Parsons-White except that the routs are much smaller & the pulling finger is hidden under the bridge. Al Perkins borrowed my old Tele on a recent UK tour & has commissioned one of my friend's benders as a result. A few years ago I changed to Ovation solids exclusively for stage work so the Hipshot was the only option. I love them, I couldn't go back to a strap-activated bender now. The hipshot is just so simple, plus it's interchangable between guitars, and doesn't involve any invasive woodwork. The only change I made on the Viper 3 on which it is installed is that I had an engineer friend make a replica bridge saddle with an integral roller, which really helps the stability of the pitch return. I have no clue if I will be able to include it in my playing or not but if it does not work out for me I will let you know. I played Darc's Hamer with the scalloped fingerboard and decided that I had to have a guitar with one but of course I take it to the Nth degree. If the beast ever gets together I will post a picture of it.

(...and then lend it to me.) I'm getting a little nervous about my new acquisition. The eBay seller has not responded to my e-mails... Call me old fashioned, but when money is about to change hands I read my e-mails frequently.
