Joined: June 2002 Posts: 3 Location: Summerside pei | I have recently posted a similar message in the Buy/Sell section of this site, however, I didn't get any responses. I own a 1968 Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer (6string) model number 1127-4. I would very much appreciate any information I could possibly get on this particular model of Ovation. (example--How many were made? ...What would one be worth today?) I am also interested in finding other owners of this model to talk with. Thank-you Vanessa MacAulay email-- vanessamacaulay@hotmail.com

The value of your guitar would depend on condition and I could only guess the value would be between $600 and$1000. If it is the shiney bowl version, there are VERY few of these but I wouldn't know how many. I do have one that was actually built for Glen himself and there is at least one other board member that has a production model, probably others here as well. Hope this is a little help! Wayne

Joined: July 2002 Posts: 4 Location: Temuco Chile | I am new to the forum and saw Vanessas letter. I own a model GC 1117-4 (s/n 005405)that I bought new in early 1970 if my memory serves. I have owned, cherished and played it for more than 30 years (I am 46). To my dismay recently some friends of my son were looking at the guitar and and leaned it against the wall...it fell over and broke the neck completely off. I don't mean cracked I mean broke! Any suggestions? I have talked to some that have said that there was somewhat of a design flaw with the original curved necks. Has anyone had any success repairing something like this? The Guitar was in mint condition... I feel like I have lost a good friend. Maybe no one can give me any suggestions but I knew Ovation lovers would understand. :(

J/Kiddin' Dude, I can't tell ya how I feel about your axe getting broken by the kids. Mine has been thru some ruff scraps but not enuf to break the neck completely off by falling over. It had to have been more than just falling over. My GC has been like thru a war in my jam room. It's been drop'd, toss'd across the room, hit with sticks, kick'd, beer splatter'd, and no telling what else. And it still plays like a bad dog. Since I thru everyone out of the house, and ripp'd out all the carpet and retired, Nobody touches my GC (butterfinger) but me and my brother. I take it, your kid is on probation right now. I'd have 'em in chains if that was my guitar. [ July 13, 2002: Message edited by: Gizz ]

I thought about banishment forever but my son felt as bad as I did. I have thought about messing with the ajustments screws on his bass though!!

I don't have any that I know of , but I help'e raise his 2 like my own. I taught 'em both how to play drums, and guitar to keep 'em off the streets. It worked till they got into their mid/teens and we all know what happens then, and we ain't talking Viagra here. From the time they were old enough for their feet to reach the bass drum pedal, I started 'em. All they wanted to play was Metallica. They tore up my sets skins and broke my cymbals, and on top of that , they'd never reset my trap set back to right hand position. They're both left handed. I knew they'd been on 'em, cause they'd be turn'd around when I'd left them in my position. I finally had to put my foot down, and make 'em buy their own sticks, cause mine looked like a beaver had been chewing on them. They bought me some used cymbals at a pawn shop 1 christmas. I forgave them. But the RULES were down on my GC Ovation. I learned to not have anyone in the jam room who is not a member of the band, and not to bring any guest whatsoever, didn't care if it was their mama, she wasn't coming it. Might consider some rules for your kid and his friends MikeR.
