Miles, myself and my wife Sue are headed to the Namm show tomorrow. We will be able to report on any cool new stuff we see for Ovation and other companies. Miles usually brings his laptop so he can post from the show. You will have to wait for Monday to insult me.
Anyway, play nice.

Al, we won't have to wait until Monday to insult you. We'll just do it behind your back like we always do. HA!

Have fun at NAMM. I'm envious of you guys, but I'll see you in Anaheim in January.

By the way, is it possible to print out some of our insightful comments regarding Ovation (the company) and pass them along to the Ovation folks at the show?

Al, i cant wait for you to see and play a new model by ovation that should be just what we early ovation players like. Its geared more to unplugged acoustic sound.I wont spill the beans until you see it and play it first at the NAMM show..Im very curious to see what you think about it...

What? Maybe another new Ovation? I don't know if I could handle it.. I mean the Tangent is everything anyone could want... how could they improve on that?

Miles, do i detect a little sarcasm? This will be an unplugged acoustic players guitar.Although it will have a pick up.A little old,a little new!! This is all i can say..I should let it be introduced at the Namm show first....Al, let us know what you think when you play that puppy at the namm show! Maybe someone at Ovation is listening to our posts? I hope for ovation and ovation fans sake it will be a great sounding sucessful guitar

I'm sure it will be a great guitar, and probably worth every penny, but I reserve judgement untill I see it. I tend to get behind things based on ALL aspects. Although designed as an Acoustic, it better be one helluva plugged-in guitar also.

Miles / Al -- Please take pictures of this new Ovation so the rest of us can see them.

Also, if anybody remembers, I had a project Viper on which I put a Preacher Deluxe neck and an Ovation humbucker in the neck position. Just got it back and completed today. It's beautiful and sounds great. I'll send pictures as soon as I can get them.

Paul, did you have any problems with intonation of the guitar since the scale length is different on a viper and a preacher??

Sam:
There was enough adjustment in the saddles to get the intonation correct. However, it's not just a straight bolt on change (per my repair guy). Evidently, the neck needed some adjustment before it was right. But I gotta admit, it looks beautiful and with the humbucker in the neck position, it sounds wonderful with a full range of sounds.

I have probably screwed myself on the guitar having any future value, but I seem to have an innate ability not to sell guitars anyway.

A left handed cherry, cherry burst Tangent, reverse headstock. Oh Joy!! What will they think of next?
Hopefully I'm wrong and whatever this new creation is will be interesting. Sam, tell us more.

Maybe something with a clear, coloured bowl with exposed workings - like an iMac.

good grief!

We did a couple of those back when that was the thing! the hard part was finishing the inside of the top and having no squeeze out from the top bond to the bowl. They looked cool but it was clear lexan and didn't sound very good, too mushy. The best thing was when they made CHK a clear punch bowl, guitar shaped of course, and the ladel was a mini guitar with a reallllllllllll long neck.

I have seen a Glen Campbell model with a see thru bowl..I think it was built for the NAMM show back in the 80's..A playable display so poeple could see the insides of an ovation...

That was the one. I think we built 3 to get one good one.
