Bailey.... Thanks for volunteering :) If you compile a list of folks who play and include the year and the instrument when you know it.. I will post the info in the research section.

Bradley;

The McCartney pix in Guitar World Acoustic were from the "Wings Over America" tour. (As an aid to "justification", you might want to mention to your wife that Linda custom ordered that guitar for Paul as a birthday present!).

McCartmey has been in the Martin camp as of late.
(No doubt a left-handed PMcC Signature Model won't be long in coming.)

In keeping with the vein.... I just went through the most recent Guitar World Acoustic (Sheryl Crow on the cover)... didn't see a single O. Not even in the advertisements. How depressing... This week's homework, class.... everybody keep your eyes open for current artists using O's. Make a note of it and bring it back here for show & tell. With almost 400 of us here, we should be able to find a few O players out there... Then we just need to find a way to get KMC to acknowledge those artist and take a capitalistic exploitative approach with marketing...

You're depressing me. Maybe it's to a point with Ovation where they just don't feel the need to get the good guitars out there. Maybe they are doing so well with the Korean models that they have no incentive to push the USA models. Maybe I should leave this computer for a while and go play some guitar. Now I'm depressing me.

Strange you should mention compiling a list of well known Ovation players. I was thinking about it all day, as to how a search might be done, but I don't think it is that easy because there is nothing common to each mention of a user. I think the only way to do it is to review each posting while the number of postings is manageable and pulling each reference and entering into a database. After that, each valid reference should be entered when it shows up. I'll take a crack at it in the next few days by using the off line feature of Explorer and Windows weak multi-tasking capability so I can transfer the information as I find it. No guarantees, but I'll try it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Cliff,
Paul was funny about guitars. The deal was he'd buy them and we could use the picture but we could never use his name in print. I guess that way it wasn't a real endorsement or whatever. Linda did order the guitars as a suprise for his birthday.
If they come out with a Martini PMC then we'll know he's changed his tune.

No seriously.

He actually IS performing with the people mentioned.

I heard it on a the radio this morning on my way to work and it made me think of Al's post.

Sorry, Denny.

DUDES, we do have a celeb in our mist of members....... I see Hizzoner is the Mayor of a town in (none other than) Texas. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy. Hey, I really don't know if Denny is dead or not... I guess he's O.K. if he can play guitar, no matter what style.

Actually I know quite a few politicians in Texas who play Ovations. Gee ... maybe we should get together and cut a song for the CD project?

Hmmmm .... what could we call ourselves?

One thing that can be said of the Ovation artist list is it is at least honest.

I looked up the Taylor artist list and it was hillarious. I think they listed everybody who was in the same room with one at some point in their life. They list artists who I have seen dozens of times both on TV and live and they never played a Taylor.

If Ovation lists an artist you can at least say, yep, I saw them with an O
