Does anyone have any advise on installing one of those pickups built into the saddle/bridge? I just bought an old Legend that doesn't have any electronics. I do have a sound-hole pickup, so worst case, I'll use that.

Thanks

There are any number of after-market undersaddle systems available, check our LR Baggs, Fisman, B-band....there's tons of others. They all do a good job. Expect to pay up to $300 for a pickup, preamp & pro installation. Pro installation is vital unless you know what you're doing. A sloppy or unevenly routed saddle-slot causes string-to string imbalance. You could also talk to the factory about having original Ovation equipment fitted. I've managed to put together several Ovation systems from parts bought on ebay.

The one I always had good luck with was the Fishbreath Matrix pickup. It will fit in the slot just fine. Contact the guys at Fishbone and they can tell all the steps to install.
Good Luck.

I decided to keep my Legend acoustic and bought a decent Audio-Technica cardioid instrument mic. Besides, with the 300.00 a professionally installed pick-up costs, you could buy a 1711 Like new Balladeer on e-bay!!!! Electronic included!

Norse(sure, now that I am due to get my Balladeer today, I have to leave town for three days before I will probably even get to touch it!)man1
