Location: South Hamilton, Mass. | Hey there. What are the big differences between a Mid Bowl and a Shallow? What are the sound differences when acoustic vs. electrified? I'm looking at a Celebrity Deluxe and I'm wondering which way to go.

Location: NJ | if you want a good acoutic sound you should go with the mid if you are mainly useing it for electric and don;t play acousitcally too often go with that shallow. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Just curious to know if there's any difference in the quality of sound (plugged or unplugged) between a Celebrity Deluxe CC-057 and a Celebrity Deluxe CS-257?? Both are Korean made, and have spruce tops and shallow bowls... However, one has the large center singular soundhole(cc-057) and the other has the Adamas style multiple soundholes(CS-257). Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Location: NJ | IMHO there is a difference between the guitars and the placement of sound holes. It is distinct especially when playing acoustically. best is to bring a friend have then sit opposite of you and play the guitar while you listen. let your ears decide which is best to you.
Miles bought a 2001 redwood top. He prefers center sound hole acoustic guitars. when we did a side by side comparision he bought the other. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | That is absolutely the best test Al. In this case it was a test of "leafs" or "hole." Both guitars sounded great to play, different but only subtle different... So any time I get into that situation... just have someone sit a few feet in front of me with each and strum and pick a little on each. I would assume the mid-bowl will project more than the shallow... and be richer sounding.. Please do the test and let us know the result. |

Location: east coast | I agree with the thought that if you are mainly playing thru an amp the shallow will work fine, But I personally bring my guitar everywhere and do not lug an amp around, the shallow sounds real weak without an amp, the mid depth projects much better, I have the Celebrity Deluxe 247 and love it. As always only you can tell what you need or want....... |

I own a 1868 Elite and have a question for you. Doesn't the gauge of the strings help or hurt how the shallow bodies project sound. I was wondering what some of the resident experts suggest as far as strings for my Elite.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | String gauge does effect the projection of any guitar, and I think there are some folks more qualified than me to make some suggestions. I like to use 9's cause I can use the same approximate gauge on my solid-bodies and acoustics... But that's just my preference. I have a guy that comes to my studio who doesn't feel comfortable on anything less that 12's. |

Location: Scotland | Remember that the whole point of super-shallow guitars is that they are intended primarily for plugged-in use, the reduced body size is to make the guitar more comfortable onstage & minimise feedback, but in turn it also minimises acoustic tone, volume & projection. Heavier strings on your super-shallow Elite will improve those areas but it will never have the acoustic performance of a full-bodied guitar & nor is it supposed to.

Location: Columbus, OH | Another good use for the shallow-bodied guitars is to record higher inversion guitar parts on one - the difference in bass resonse lets the parts "sparkle" in the mix. |
