For the sake of saving typing time please view this "Ovation" guitar that I have relisted. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=901585499. JAYROC

I'm not sure of the procedure that E-bay uses to resolve rip-offs, but if they want YOU to prove it, connect them with this web site/string. I'm sure you will have the support of several hundred knowledgeable people that will support your claim. Patsbro

What an A--hole, said he never received my email to resolve the problem. I've never had any problems with my email before, I don't want my money back, I want to see this scum in jail. I believe anyone who views the item will be able to come to their own conclusion. JAYROC [ August 23, 2002: Message edited by: Jayroc ]

I sold a studio mike to a guy in the USA, whose payment bounced after the mike was shipped, he wouldn't respond to emails, when he did he was very aggressive. I got Square Trade involved & they sorted it in within a week. There's a link to Square Trade from Ebay. Paul

If they are buying anything they e-mail the seller. He is currently high-bidder on a camera I think. Send your link and explaination to the seller and get him booted. Selling phoney mechandise as the real thing, and that IS what he did, is fraud and you should be able to do something. Can you stop payment on that money order? I had 1 seller tell me to always use postal money orders, something to do with being federal money makes it a bigger sin. Don't know if that's true, but it sounds good. Good luck, Bradley

Joined: December 2001 Posts: 10583 Location: NJ | I have sold and bought many items on ebay. Most of them were pleasant experiences there were some exceptions. I was reported to e bay fraud maybe twice. from my experience I can tell you that e bay does almost nothing to intervene between buyer and seller unless it is a blatant fraud or illegal activity. In this case it is fraud but proving it may be difficult. the seller told you there was no label or serial number the seller showed pictures that clearly to my eye do not represent an Ovation guitar. In his feeble mind he probably thinks it is an ovation and he did nothing wrong or he was taken by someone else. In any event I wish you well in trying to get resolution to this. I am not sure if you ever will. Also remember that if you e mail other bidders about items this guy may be selling and the original seller finds out he can report you for spamming to ebay and they would be MORE likely to boot you than him for selling something in a misrepresented fashion. good luck

I want to Thank everyone for the support and compassion that you've shown to a newcomer on this forum.THANKS(shouting)Just so everyone knows,I'm not a whiner and the $150.00 sure isn't going to break me nor will it keep me from bidding on anymore guitars or anything else that interests me. My main goal now is to get sellers that are thiefs OFF the Ebay site so no one else gets took. Thanks again JAYROC

But like Al said, for we know this idiot might not know Ovation from Ovaltine, unsuspectingly bought it from some other scumbag under the guise that it was genuine, and tried reselling for a quick profit. (Although the fact that he "blew off" Jayroc's e-mail makes him a bit suspicious). For all intents and purposes, he can claim that he was selling something that he unknowingly believed to be genuine. Yet another instance for me to avoid eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeBay. (The Ned Beatty version)

The only reason I listed it was because you can't leave a comment on the feedback section when you are POed in 80 characters or less. I had lots to say, I said what I wanted and I do believe what goes around comes around. Actually the experience has added spice to my somewhat simple being. Buying anything on ebay or any other auction site is a gamble but is still better than going to the casino boats in St. Louis. My form of gambling I suppose. Jayroc

Sorry you got took, hope you can stop payment on a money order. The other poster is probably right, you start e-mailing people about him, E-bay will come after you. Strange world we live in. He was selling a couple of phoney guitars and trying to pass them off as real Fenders. Strange, he seems to have gotten only 1 bid out of all of his ads (about 9 ads). I wonder who would be foo..... Never mind. :D Maybe JayRoc and NorseMan1 should start a branch of E-Bay Anonymous? Bradley

It was advertised in a classified as a Gibson 12 string, and I had to meet the seller at a friend's house to look at it. The price was quite low and the guitar was somewhat beat up but playable and had all the Gibson features, sunburst finish, Gibson headstock etc., so I bought it. Turns out it was made in Mexico. The seller, I think, was taken too and was just passing it on to the next guy. All in all the guitar was playable and may have sounded better than a real G 12 string. As somebody said , caveat emptor, make lemonade. When I got tired of it , Bill from Poway Music and I turned it into an acoustic bass because it had this strong neck and enormous body (we were trying to build an American guitarron), unfortunately we were before our time. Now, I think even Ovation has an acoustic bass. Bailey (I was inspired to learn more about instruments)

He has a G----n J45 that looks like Willie Nelson owned it, can't understand why I won't let him handle any of mine when he shows up without it. Jayroc
