I currently have a 1711 Ovation Standard Balladeer. I have two questions:

1. How long should the battery last for the preamp?

2. Being aboard a Navy ship, I am having a difficult time finding a quiet place to teach myself how to play. How well would a small battery powered amp work? I am looking at one of the small belt-type versions that are used with electric guitars. Sound doesn't hav eto be perfect, just enough that I can upt on a good set of headphones and hear myself play.

Please send all responses to me offline at:

It is difficult to get ont heweb from sea, so offline responses will get seen fastest. Thanks.

Chuck;

Length of battery life is kinda subjective.
Go with a good quality long-life battery (not the cheapest) and they usually last months. The best thing to remember is to keep the guitar unplugged when it's not being played so as not to drain the battery.

One of those little headphone amps should work fine. Whenever I want to practice in "privacy", I usually just plug into my effects pedal (ART Acoustic). It has a headphone jack and even allows me to play in privacy and add reverb, phase, flange, delay, chorus, etc. The only drawback with the pedal is that the power supply needs to be plugged in (or a 9V DC power source).
