The original tan Ovation case that came with my '76 deep bowl Legend 1117 is pretty beat up. I would like to get a new case. I did a search for posts on cases and read through most of them. I came across this one by alpep:

"according to the 02 flier 2 size cases one for super shallow the other for mid and deep
you have your choice of deluxe or not deluxe.
deep deluxe 9158
deluxw shallow 9117
molded deep 8158
molded shallw 8117
molded deep 8210
molded shallow 8217"

So I assume I need either an 8158 or an 9158. But I still have some questions:

1. Is there any way to tell from the case which case you have? Is there a number on them somewhere?

2. The deep bowl Legend seems to fit nicely in the case that came with my 2001 mid bowl Legend. Is there really much of a difference in case sizes?

3. What's the difference between the deluxe and regular cases? Is the deluxe case stronger?

My local Ovation dealer was no help. He didn't have any cases in stock and couldn't answer my questions. The Ovation web site doesn't provide any details either.

deep and mid are probably the same cases.
numbers on the cases are applied with labels and usually missing.
the deluxe case is fuzzier and has an ovation logo on the inside of the lid and alledgedly stronger and it also has a spot for a rod adjustment wrench
