Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Scott,yes it is a deluxe neck on the 6 string..I liked the look better with it..All the hardware is gold,all original ovation parts..I had a hard time finding a gold schaller 12 string bridge because if you think about it,ovation uses chrome on all its 12 string solid bodies..Somehow though Bill came up with a new gold 12 string bridge.Thanks Bill !!
The two front guitars on left and right are a bit different..The left one is Jim Richards original deacon with a walnut pickguard and trus cover...He had put a dot inlay neck instead of the diamond shape inlays..I left it that way..
The red deacon on the right is custom ,with a maple neck/fingerboard and viper electronics.Its a deacon/viper mix.I was kinda going for a strat feeling deacon and it did turn out that way..Its actually a great feeling and sounding guitar...
The white breadwinner is a gloss white rather than the usual textured white breadwinners..Im not sure how many ovation made with gloss white..Its the only one i have seen..

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Al, it is huge but does not weigh a lot.The body is a single piece of mahogany..I like to call it "THE BEAST"....Every time i look at this guitar it reminds me of one of my favorite movies "Spinal Tap".... |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | The one I saw a couple years ago was very similar. I'm STILL kicking myself for not getting it. It didn't have the "v" between the two necks nor the double bottom like yours Sam, just more like a really fat Deacon with two necks. The necks were also angled a little. Did I mention I'm still kicking myself... It was made by an ex-employee of Ovation appearently. How playable is that you have Sam? Looks like long arms might be needed? It's a nice guitar tho... |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Miles, any double neck deacon would have to be a custom built job because Ovation never built one..I designed the body on this one and yes it is long.In fact its almost impossible to play sitting down.Your hand barely reaches the 6 string.It is playable standing up...
The body was built by a high end cabinet shop that also had dabbled in guitar bodies.They were a client of mine and i saw a solid body guitar in the corner one day.I discussed with them building me a custom body..I designed it and they made it out of a beautiful single piece of mahogany.I left them a body there to use as a guide to match routes and contours.The contours, routes for the bridge,neck cavity and pickups are exactly the same as a regular deacon.They had a paint and stain shop in house that matched the red stain very,very close to the original ovation red stain.They shot it with 14 coats of laquer..It is "the beast" |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Well it looks cool.. The one I saw, like I said was built by an "ex" employee, although I can't remember his name. He actually doweled two deacon bodies together for the strength. I really wish I could track it/him down. As I recall he had used the "preacher" style pickups unfortunatly... but other than that it was also pretty sweet. I think yours might have it beat on the overall cool factor cause it's so big! |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Miles, i would love to see what his looked like.I have an idea from what you discibed though..It took me about a week to do the final design and i added the v between the two necks to make the natural flow of the guitar body join together.On the 12 string where the lower bout cutaway would be i have the uper bout of the 6 string come up along that line and join it..It seemed like a natural thing and the two lines work great together.If you were to take a deacon body and trace it on paper and then overlay the second one it just kinda builds itself and comes together..It makes for a long body though..Nigel from spinal tap would love this deacon..If i could only make the knobs go to 11.... |

I was hoping that us chatting about it would have brought it out of the woodwork so-to-speak. But I guess there are still a few folks on the planet that are not signed up yet. |
