The 1597 is the SMT or "smooth matrix top" The W597 has a woven top with a thinner finish, more like the original Adamas. I own an SMT & a '78 Adamas and they sound very different, but each is great in their own way. The SMT gets the most use. Theres also a round-hole version (W591 I think) which I personally wouldn't touch with a barge-pole.
