I have an Elite T... and I love it. I just came across a deal and I mean DEAL on a CC057 in PERFECT condition.

I was just looking for some input on it. Quality, playability, stage use, etc...

Thanks

I've only played the CC057 at guitar stores, but I've noticed that the more recent models seem to sound better than what I saw in the stores 2 years ago. The salesperson at Guitar Center agreed with me too, and adding that she wouldn't have recommended Ovations to anyone prior to their recent redesigns. Does yours have the DJ-series preamp or the new OP-series? I personally wouldn't buy a CC057 with the old DJ preamps.

my 2 cents, hopefully it helps. :)

I'm pretty sure it has the DJ series electronics. People have mentioned it on another topic but are the electronics interchangable and if so, where would I be able to purchase the OP series electronics seperately?

And could someone give me the low down specifics of the DJ series vs. OP series preamps?

nope, the DJ and OP preamps are not interchangeable. The new OP preamps come as a single unit that pops out of the guitar. The old DJ preamps cannot be removed from the guitar as easily. Check out the German (www.ovation.de) and US (www.ovationguitars.com) and you'll see the difference. The US site still shows the old preamps.

If you can get a deal for it, it might still be worth buying it even if it's the old model. Keep in mind though that musician's friend has deals on the CC057 (and CC026) now.

I bought a CC057 about a month ago. It has the new OP electronics. The whole unit pops out. That unit also has a built in turner. I was a bit skeptical about a built in turner but I love it now. As far as sound goes, it is a shallow bowl, so I'm sure the mid-depth or deep-bowl may sound better un-plugged, but so far I love my CC057. The ease of play of this guitar beats any accoustic guitar I have ever played (and I've been playing guitar for 35 years). The intonations are perfect. Plugged in, it has a wide varity of EQ choices. They say the american made Ovations sound better - I don't know since this is my first Ovation, but I know I am very, very pleased with it.
