I've owned a Matrix for a good few years now and I've recently been trying to find out more about it. It hasa rosewood fingerboard with proper frets so i suppose it must be a later model it also has no reference to Ovation anywhere. The model number is also not one that anyone else has listed on the board (as far as I can see) it's 1137 not 2 like most peoples seems to be the serial number is 006377.

I be grateful of any info members could help me with - Thanks

I seem to remember the last batch of the Matrix had rosewood 'boards & real frets just before they were discontinued & replaced by the 1311/1511 Ultra. The serial number should put the guitar sometime in the early 80's, but the one you quoted is much earlier.

I've just checked the serial no and it is as I quoted it's on a Silver coloured sticker that is stuck onto the Black Kaman made in Connecticut label which has the model number on it. Does the plot thicken? Anyway its a guitar I just can't put down as it has more acoustic punch than my Balladeer and its better than my recently acquired Takamine which on reflection was a waste of money.
