I was just wondering. Did Ovation ever make a nylon string Adamas????

BTY, I was just window shopping again on E-Bay. Anyone looking for an Ovation Classical?

To my knowledge they made one or two protos (I think Sam has one), but I don't think they never offered a production nylon Adamas. However, at one time I did have an Adamas II wide neck (1 7/8") which I put ball end nylon strings on. I had to file the nut slots a bit and the intonation was not 100% perfect. It was also a bear to tune due to regular steel string tuners, but it was a very nice sounding guitar. I ended up trading it for something else and I heard that the new owner returned it to steel strings. Dave

I asked Dub2 about this once as Glen Campbell, in the early 80's had an Adamas nylon string with a super shallow bowl. I was told that the nylon strings didn't drive the top enough and the sound wasn't that great acoustically. Cool concept tho'. Had a Country Artist neck on it.

I know that Ovation thru the years has built a few adamas graphite top nylon strings for special orders for customers. It appears the graphite top and bracing did not sound that good according to those who played them..I also know that they built a few elite style nylons(custom order)that sounded better but still not incredible..The one adamas classical that i have(pic on links)has cedar top and it sounds very, very good......

Thanks for the reply. I thought I once saw Adrian Legg on a video playing an Ovation classical Adamas. Too many years ago to remember.

Did anyone check out that classical on e-bay. Wish I could talk my wife into understanding my GAS one more time. How does a 1613 sound?????

$275 sounds like a nice price

I LOVE my wife

I told her I have GAS

I explained what GAS was and she said that she understood.

Bottom line, I bought it with Buy-it-now for $275

We'll see....

We're waiting with baited breath (whatever that means).

I'm not sure what that means either. When I'm out fishing and haven't caught a thing, it means I've giving up and have eaten the bait myself

Whatever it means, were with you all the way, we love to vicariously enjoy anybody getting a new guitar. Just tell us what it feels like when you get it.

Baited breath, it means ya'll been eatin dried fish again.

The coolest nylon Adamas was a double neck for Pat Martino, top righty, bottom lefty. This way he could play the retrograde inversion on the lefty neck. (Whatever that is)

He also had a regular nylon that he called Bluesette. It was Adamas II styling with the add on ring and was probably a mid depth bowl. As you can guess, it was blue.
