I've got a brochure on the Magnum 1&2 basses that was sent to me by another kind soul along with literature on other Ovation electrics. I don't play bass and would be happy to send it on to you. Email me at moody.pi@cox.net with a name and mailing address and I'll shoot it out.

Paul M's brochure should reveal all. The best thing to do with the mute is to forget about it. Loads of bass manufacturers have tried this at some point & it never works properly. I've taken mine off because I found the lever was always in the way.

The mute was INTENDED to recreate the sound of an upright bass. It kinda works depending on your playing style. My basic philosophy is to not limit yourself by your own preconceptions. So play around with it and find out what works for you.

Experimentation leads to inovation which leads to experimentation.

BTW a pencil eraser works terrible as a pick.

The mute works a bit better on the Fretless model.
