Location: San Bernardino, California | Has anybody played one the tenor ukeleles. The reason I'm asking is that the scale length (16-7/8") is about right for a project I have in mind.
What I need to know is
1) does it have a truss rod?
2) is the neck wide enough to be able to fit 6 strings?
3) is the sound board & bridge strong enough to convert to steel strings istead of nylon?
4) does the bridge pickup have four seperate parts or is it one solid piece?
Basically I'm thinking of converting it into a small scale guitar tuned to B or C. |

Gibson has a 6 string mandolin for $1980 in my newest Musician's friend catalog. That seems a little high to me.

Location: Scotland | Martin used their Tenor Uke scale for their Tiples, which are up to A, I think you may need either a slightly shorter scale or very light strings to get to B or C. The pickup on the Ovation Tenor ukes is the same as the Mando, basically a four element version of the original Ovation guitar unit. |
