Random quote: “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” -Plato

o.k.,i think most of us probably didn't understand where Mr.O was coming from and i admire people that have a different perspective especially when it comes to art and music. i look at and collect vintage autos (british/german) with the same passion. i appreciate the unusual, without it this planet would be quite boring. but i think Mr.O should understand that we weren't making a personal attack on the sellers/creators of these items. nor were we making a personal attack on the people that appreciate them. we were just bustin' on the shit wasting time, you know. i'm sure there's all types of people on this board with different tastes, and interests. that doesn't make them "narrowminded".i'm gonna take my ball and go home now. peace...

Hey Hakr,
I guess I do put my own twist on things... "people not knowing where I'm coming from" is nothing new for me. :) However, I did think a few comments (don't think they were from you) as directly "a personal attack on the sellers/creators of these items" and that's what I didn't get. I could have misread, as "type" doesn't always come across the way its intended, but it made for an entertaining thread anyway. I have an acquaintance in Germany who collects those cars that look like squared off VW's. They are old, and come in colors like yellow and red? I wish I could remember the name. They were quite cool.
Bailey, I tried to get into Bluegrass a little. Some friends were in a group called Kentucky Wind that became fairly popular in the 70's... I went to a few festivals too, but it just didn't click with me. Liked the instruments, admired the musicianship, but it doesn't seem to hold my interest. It looks likes its more fun to play than to listen to, but that' just an observation.

I thought you were from CT and that always explained it for me.

Bluegrass is like scotch, you like it or you may never like it, (I like bourbon).

I had a good friend that I worked with in San Diego that bought a new Morgan in the 70's and took the SCCA driving course at the Del Mar Race Track parking lot so he could race it. We used to drive through Rancho Santa Fe on the 2 lane cement road, and that Morgan "pillar" front end and stiff suspension was enough to induce sea sickness, but it was pretty fast as it was light for the 6 cyl triumph engine. I was a big sports car buff and went to many races at Riverside, even getting to see the original Cobra team in the 60's as they wiped out everything with drivers like Dan Gurney, Ken, The Snake (I can't think of his name he was killed a few years later, he raced the "flying shingle", a Morgan in SCCA), and Dave Donahue (who died at Indy with a bunch of good drivers). The Cobras were like stock cars in the driving techniques used, hit the corner sideways and step on it, with six carbs feeding the small V8, stepping on it produced awesome acceleration and they fed it through wide tires that would suit a dragster.
I even saw Jimmy Clark driving a Lotus 23, lapping cars in the higher classes from sheer skill, saw Steve McQueen on a road course in the desert east of San Diego testing a Porsche 508 that he raced at Sebring and won his class (his class was BIG money), he lapped everything at the SCCA race at least 3 times. The carnage at Indy kinda soured me on racing.
