When I use the XLR connection on my Legend to plug into a PA system, the sound guy has to turn the gain all the way down as well as the level. Then he really has no control over my guitar. If I use the 1/4" jack, this doesn't seem to be the case and he can work with the tone and volume. Does anyone know why? I guess I could just continue to use the 1/4" jack but I would really like to know why this is happening. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm using the phantom power of the board or the battery on my guitar for power.
Thanks.

The output from the XLR should be mic level & should not be so hot that a gain pad is needed. Sounds like it's more likely to be a problem with the board rather than the guitar, could be a faulty mic pre on the channel strip. Try other channels on that board & try a few different boards.
