Dweezil's mention of eBay polish in a recent post got me thinking: I have recently bought a blonde 1758 in great condition, but she has a patch of light pick scratches. Dweezil mentioned polish bought on eBay for this: has anyone here managed to buff out these kind of scratches?

Thanks in advance

That's what I polished out, they weren't SCRATCHES per se just pick haze (a good description). They were pretty bad and really detracted from the look of the Adamas.

I would say I've reduced them by 90%. Next time I replace the strings I'll give it another go.

Bloody heathens! Use you fingers not a pick!

You don't use Polish; you use Ukranian.

So Dweez; can you please post a link for the polish you used? Like you (I suspect) I want to improve the look of the soundboard but not damage it (and like you I'm a bit hesitant about ehich product to use).

Besy wishes

Thats what I used. All I can say is...

1. Try a SMALL patch first.
2. Don't rub hard the firs time just in case.
3. Read the instructions/guidelines

That's funny. I left firefox open when I shut my laptop right after I posted that the first time, then tonight I opened it up and when firefox connected it posted it again...

well, I thought it was funnier the second time. Must've simmered in it's own juices some.

I've used it on several. Whatever you do, don't use it on lacquer finishes. I learned the hard way that it will make a mess of a high gloss black lacquer finish. This is clear in the instructions, but what I don't know is which guitars are finished in lacquer and which are urethane (or something else).

My red Ultra GS has deep pick scratches in the body and in the pick guard. I tried some 3M scratch remover, but it didn't help. They are just too deep. The guy before me must have played power chords with a knife. Someday I'll sand it down, but I'd like to save the original color.
