Location: Bethel, Me | They are beautiful guitars and the pictures don't do them justice, though I think you can buy one new for less than the asking price. If I remember correctly they're making some with other countries flags. I thought Greece was mentioned for the 2004 olympics. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I agree. Pictures can not do this guitar justice. The one we saw at the factory was just outstanding. I only hope that Ovation limits the number and types of these air brush jobs that it does. I can just see a Dale Ernhardt #3 or a WWF RAW version on the horizon. Dave |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I was at the NAMM convention when these came out. A lot of companies had a "flag" guitar they threw together in the last moments before NAMM. This guitar's paint was just so much better, I think the other companies were hiding their's after they saw Ovation's. Also, can someone clarify... I had heard that these guitars were in production actually before 9/11 and it's not Ovation that is calling them 9.11 guitars, but the consumers. I am pretty sure the graphic is the same as on the Takamine that someone plays in a video or commercial that also came out before the more infamous 9/11.
Can someone clarify. |

| In March 2001, Toby Keith asked Takamine if they could build a "flag guitar" for him. Takamine teamed up with the custom shop at Ovation and the result was a stunning, one of a kind EF-341C with a custom American Flag paint job. Toby and his flag Tak have since made several network television appearances as well as a Time Magazine feature and a Ford truck commercial.
In 2001 Ovation built seventy five of the 1777 Legend guitars identified on the label only as 1777 Legend and stamped in the back of the head stock 1/75 through 75/75 with USA underneath the number.
Upon close inspection I think the flag is a high grade decal applied to the top only because the stripes extend into the sound hole and wrap around the edge to the inside of the guitar where they stop about ¼” on the inside of the top. The rosette is flush with the to top and I looks like part of the decal. It then looks like the top was sprayed with a ½” black burst around the edges and a clear coat over the top of that. There is a slight silver flake in the finish as well as some black shadows that may also be have sprayed on.
However it was done, it is with out question, the best finish of any of the flag top guitars I’ve seen. Although only 75 were made the flag top is still available by custom order but only on the Custom Legend 1779-USA and lists for $3299 and looks like this.
Let me know if any of this incorrect.

Location: Scotland | It's not a decal, it's airbrushed, very very nicely. The rosette is the current inlaid version used on some of the higher-end centre-hole guitars. I didn't mean that the design was exploitative, but I think the fact that someone would try to sell #9 & #11 as a pair, at a premium price is tacky in the extreme, unless of course he intends to donate the proceeds to the FDNY. |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | I ordered the two Olympic greek flag models,Custom legend with OP50 electronics..They are not decals ,they are painted..The top has an amazing paint job and is very beautiful.Ovation built three of these guitars total.I have one ,one went to the ovation dealer in Greece and the last one is in the hands of an artist who has sold over 20 million albums and was just on a North American tour.He recieved the guitar before a sold out show at Radio City Music Hall.His name is George Dalaras and he will hopefully be playing the flag guitar during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in 2004..This would be great exposure for Ovation..BTW Dalaras currently is using a Adamas CVT exclusively.He has used Ovations during his 30 year career.He has played and recorded with Ian Anderson,Sting,Al demiloa,Paco Deluthia and many more..I will post some pics of his ovations..First one is an early 1979 adamas during a concert in 1984..

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Mike,great observation on the inlay of the 12 fret of the Adamas CVT.Its not an export model,its the first CVT built.One year before they went into actual production.Ovation built this cobalt blue CVT for Dalaras.The only other ones completed at the time were a 6 and 12 string that were made for pics for catalogs.Dalaras recieved his on nov. 13th 1999..The CVT's did not go into production until months later.When i took delivery of this first CVT i was amazed at its beauty.Up until then i was only told about the weave top carbon graphite model.When i actually saw the beautiful top i was very impressed.The inlay on the 12th fret reads " G. DALARAS "..The inlay is maple background with ebony letters..Up until then Dalaras was playing a 1994 collectors on stage,before that he used a 1979 Adamas and a 1972 country artist(model 1624)..He always had a steel string and a nylon string on stage so the adamas and the country artist were his stage guitars .Currently he plays the Ovation CVT and a John Buscarino nylon string..Again i think its great that he has used ovations for over 30 years on stage and on his over 30 albums.The ovation guitars have been on his album covers and CD jackets for years..This is great Advertisement for Ovation..
