I really hate to sound so stupid, but I figure you should know the answer to this if anyone does. My father bought me this guitar new years ago....back in the late 70's. Being irresponsible, the paperwork has been gone probaby since the 2nd day I owned it. Here is my question(s)..... I always thought this was a Deacon, but now I have been told that it's a Breadwinner Limited. It has plastic "marbled" finish tuners and a bit of a sleeker natural wood appearance. The upper body is more sculpted and sleek than most breadwinners I have seen. I can't seem to find any information about the breadwinner limited. Someone told me it was rare to find one of these. Can you tell me anything about it? I've only played this guitar a few times and it's in mint condition. I just want to know what I really have. I will send pictures if that will help.

Thanks so much,
Caymon

It sounds like you've got it nailed. Also, a Deacon has a bound neck with multiple diamond inlays. The Breadwinner has an unbound neck with dot inlays.

Look in the owners section of this website and you should see all different variations.

I thought all the limiteds were in that oh so appealing grayburst. That is what threw me when I was first told about this guitar. I guess once you think you had Ovation figured out they throw you another curve.

Hey Al,
I forgot about the Greyburst as I hadn't seen one in that color other than in pictures. I had one in the flat mahagony, (Kinda like the Preacher finish, but dull) and the one I have in the Collection is a georgeous standard Sunburst just like the Deacon version.

It would appear I have too many guitars.. I decided to get my Limited out to noodle on... turns out, it's not sunburst.... it's satin mahagony.

Sheesh....
