Joined: January 2005 Posts: 4903 Location: Phoenix AZ | Check this guy out BEN PRESTAGE He played at Amelia during last years clinic. The guy was absolutely the bomb. Never seen anything like it. He's got 2 bass drum pedals. One pumps the bass, and the other a snare laying on its side t'd to a hihat. Check out the cigarbox guitar. A double neck 3 stringer. Clothes pin and a Sharpie pen for a nut and capo. The guy was freaking amazing. He's won a lot of cigbox awards down south. I think Al and Bobbo were with me when he played and our jaws just dropped. Joined: May 2005 Posts: 486 Location: North Carolina | These things just look hokey. I use a Boss DR770 that I trigger with an Behringer FCB1010. I don't pre program it, but set it so I can have high hat, bass drum or cross stick by tapping my foot. I don't need much else, as these small voices can really add a lot. | ||

Ok, it's not a "solo" instrument like the Porchboard in that as a guitarist you can't play one while you play guitar, but as inexpensive, effective percussion to accompany acoustic instruments, a Cajon is unbeatable. They're really easy to play and produce a convincing kick and snare sound when miked to the PA | ||
