Pete is always good as is Zak Starkey. I really miss what John added to the mix. His absence stands out more than Moon's. Either way, their live sound now is still better than the Stones ever were on their best day. Long Live Rock

I liked Kenny Jones but both he and Zak lack Moon's intensity that was so much a part of the band's personality. Without Entwistle though it's just not The Who. Enjoy the show anyway Brad.

Enjoy the show, Brad. I was lucky enough to see them way back when before they were able to order off the back page of the Denny's menu. They do indeed put on a good show, however it's just not the same. But still brilliant! FWIW, it was Keith Moon who taught Zak Starkey how the play the drums, not Ringo.

It was a pretty stripped down show. No live video screens, just a standard movie screen behind them. Last time they had 5 huge moving LCD screens. I rang up Paul Moody on the phone right during... "It's only teenage wasteland....". I don't think he knows what hit him. Dave... Sometimes I can tell when your pullin' my chain. Sometimes I can't. This time I can't. Zak rules. Mitch... Half a Who is still better than none.

They did not mention it themselves. I heard it from the sponsering radio station. Pretty classy. I was suprised to see a full house. They played Tattoo.

But I am always totally impressed with Simon Phillips from well before the days (1989?) he played with The Who and still am to this day. he's also done some fine work on Daltry and Townshend solo albums. Dave... Sometimes I can tell when your pullin' my chain. I first took notice with 801 and Phil Manzanera. The drummer blew me away and of course it was Simon. Early on he played with Judas Priets of all things, and then Toto, Jeff Beck Group, Michael Schenker Group, Jack Bruce, Gary Moore, 10cc, Asia, Stanley Clarke, Nik Kershaw ... He's got a long list of studio credits that most people are not aware of. Maybe not the flashiest drummer on stage, but definately lays down the beat with the best of them. Go listen to that Who box set of the 1989 reunion tour (was it called "Come Together" ?) Especially the closing Medley. That's Simon Phillips. Personally I think his best work was a short lived group in the 80's called RMS. Included some of the best session guys around, like Mo Foster and Ray Russell. Yes, the Who have had some fine drummers and I like all of them. But for me Simon Phillips will always stand out above the rest. Dave

It had to be on the Quadrophenia anniversery tours where they had a back up singers and guitarist, a horn section, and an elaborate percussion set up. Steve might not have stood out in the mix as much. Here is a link to some marginal quality video from last night. The guy who took it was sitting right behind me so this is the same view I had.
