Location: Virginia | You may recall I asked about the the pre-amp in my '94 Elite...
FWIW, apparently the older FET-3's can be swapped out with the newer versions without any significant modifications to the guitar (so I hear from Kim second-hand). I'll get the straight skinny when they all get back from vacation. Or perhaps some of you know what's what.
I don't know what the cost would be, nor do I know what the cost/benefit ratio is. I suppose that's subjective.
For me, who switches between acoustic and electric frequently at gigs as well as runs my acoustic direct to a mixer, the less stuff I have on the floor the better. So maybe the included tuner, feedback notch, and eq tweakability would be worth the investment... or maybe not if the upgrade costs as much as I paid for the guitar and wouldn't add to it's value if I wanted to sell it down the road.
Dilemma.

Location: High, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado | Dang it! I was not through posting and I hit the wrong button!... What I was going to say was, the hardest part for me was prying up the face plate to access the four screws. It really was not that hard, but I did not want to destroy the original one. Tedious might be a better word for it... The rest was a snap..
I think it was a worthy investment..
