Location: Wooster, Ohio | I was playing in our church praise band this week and I have been getting the A string feeding back. It just vibrates and feeds on itself. Is there a easy solution. I am playing a ovation elite - 1993
Thanks,

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Steve, I also play at church. I had the same problem and them some. I got a Boss AD-3 acoustic instrument processsor, and it works great! When a note starts to feedback, just push the footswitches and it stops that freq. from feeding back. There is an anti-feedback freq control on top as well. It is so cool. You just play your guitar, and when it starts to feedback you push the footswitch. A light will srart blinking, and when it stays on the feedback is gone. I can't say enough good things about it. My Adamas is pretty good with the feedback. I used my old Custom Balladeer this weekend at church, and just dialed the feedback away. Try one, I really think you will like it......Paul Hebert |

Location: Scotland | Cheapest solution by far is a Behringer Shark, which amongst other things is an automatic feedback destroyer that can handle up to 12 separate frequencies. The most you'll need is 3 or 4. The filters can be set to very narrow bandwidths so it will zap the problems without screwing up your tone. Best thing is the list price is around $90.

In the meantime to reduce the feedback don't overboost the bass control on the preamp. If you have a graphic EQ reduce the slider nearest to 110Hz, which is the frequecy of the A note. The bass EQ on most mixers is centred at around 100Hz, so reducing this by a couple of dB can help if your guitars strongest resonance is A. You could also get a set of Ovation airlocks and close off the soundholes which will help a little |

Location: Scotland | The notch filters work very well. The only problem is that an amplified acoustic guitar has 2 main feedback points, which are the resonant frequencies of the top & air cavity. The onboard notch can only deal with one of these. A pre with 2 notch filters would be ideal.
Maybe they should get the pre's made in Mexico, they might come with bonus notches :D |
