Seems like a lot of members have commented on playing in praise bands. That's how I came to own my O. I was just wondering how many of us do play in church.

I know this may be hard for some of you to believe but I played the guitar mass for a few years way back in the day.

Yup. The music director likes Big Blue the best, followed by my 1537 Elite. But to keep my sanity, they also hear my electrics (Viper D, Preacher 12, & Thead). It's not always music I want to play, but it's an opportunity to play.

Just throwing in my reply too. Detailed my specifics in another thread - I learned guitar by leading our group, and the Ovation has been a great addition - it comes through much better than my previous guitars (acoustics with sound hole p/u.)

I know of several churches in our metro area who have so much talent that guys with 20 years experience are not considered "good enough" to play on Sunday mornings - I guess it's a nice problem to have.

I have been a music minister for 25 years. I was lucky to have an Ovation from the begining. First I had a Legend with no pickup. I had one of those stick on pickups. It worked ok, but if it fell off and hit the ground it sounded like a bomb through the PA system. When I got my Adamas with the built in pickup, there was no turning back.

Ooooooooooooo.....God's "stray voltage" may gitcha for that one, Miles! Pretty good, though. Never having been a devotee of organized religion, the prospect of initiating my career in this fashion would seem a bit superfluous. I encourage anything that promotes self-expression and spiritual enlightenment, however. Dodged that bolt well, eh wot?

I play at Mass every two weeks. Playing praise music was the reason I finally started playing guitar. I would play more often but some of the more coservative members hate guitars and only tolerate the piano. I think anything more than gregorian chant offends them. ;)

I play in a praise band every week and do special music, singing comtempory christian songs about once a month. There are a lot of just amazing chistian song writers out their now, all in Nashville. If you don't believe me try Nicolle Nordman (Woven and Spun). I now have the chance to play with my son on specials which is a treat. We both have Ovation elites collectors.

hey williard, how 'bout an acoustic electric custom balladeer through a musicman 210 or a peavey studio chorus 210. (I always wanted a peavey stereo chorus 212, but thet quit making them.)Used to use the roland pedals, digital chorus,eq,noisegate, reverb etc. Now it's just straight acoustic electric. The older this guitar gets, the better it sounds...

I'll weigh in...
I've been playing on a Worship team for twelve years, but I picked up the mandolin five years ago. I freaked our worship leader out when I told him I was going to go full time mando in the ensemble, but it's worked out nicely. I use my custom built Adamas (MM68) Mandolin exclusively there now, and response has been very positive.

Hey Fog,
That's a pretty big group. There are only 6 of us in our group. Where are you from?
