Location: Phoenix AZ | If your Tornado has a 4 digit model number (1232) then it should have a letter prefix before the serial number. Somethng like G-xxx or H-xxx. Is it possible your serial number is H-032 ?
If you could post a photo of the label it would help to figure it out.

Location: Phoenix AZ | The 1232 in the model means it is a Tornado with vibrato. The -1 means that it is Sunburst. From the photos you can see that this is the long neck version with the 2nd generation pickups, so it came towards the end of the Storm series run. Probably a 1972 model. Dave |

Location: Scotland | I've used a Tornado for the last couple of years, until I got my Thunderhead. They sound pretty much like a cross between a Gretsch & a Gibson ES330. Great for blues, but as they don't have a solid centre-block like a 335 they are prone to feedback. The pickups on the Tornado are pretty high-output, they look like 'buckers but sound like single-coils. The Storms generally don't fetch a lot of money, much less than they should. I've just bought another Tornado for less than $200. The one you are considering looks to be in great shape. I guess the price depends on how much you want it. |
