From the Guitar Blue Book, I found that there is mentioning about a Adamas Q. But never see one from anywhere.

And recently, from the website of Adamas, there is the Q project. Are they the same thing ? They are the Conceptual guitar to be released to the market ? Any ideas ?

Welcome, Stanley!

The Adamas Q has been (and currently still is) a conceptual work in progress. There has been some vague discussion however that the 7 or 8 (or whatever the number is) Q's built thusfar MAY be available for purchase some time in the future.

Again, "Welcome aBoard"!

some q's were offered for sale about 8 years ago. It is my understanding that all if not almost all were bought back.

There are currently some q's that may be up for sale. I have been trying to get that information from Rick Hall.

I was browsing around online and found a link to the Musician's Friend web site. It listed the Q, but said that they were no longer available! Couldn't find that page from the Musician's Friend main home page, however. Interesting....

from a review in 1988

"While only a select group of players is going to be willing to make the leap to the Q’s list price of $5,999"

Excerpted from Acoustic Guitar magazine, August 1998, No. 68.

Forget it, go for the Slot Head. I think the Q is a myth, and I would not believe it existed except that 3 trick or treaters showed up at my door Friday night dressed as Adamas Q's, talk about your blood running cold. My veins were frozen after the third time and the look of terror was also frozen on my face. My wife, however, said "My, what a cute guitar, how come you never buy one like that?"

the guitar exists, much of the R & D gone into it will be utilized in the revamped models. Personally I would love to see the guitar available but I guess it will only happen when it is right to happen. Remember high end EVERYTHING not only guitars are in a slump right now.

why introduce a guitar that may not have a chance of making it in this economy. Then again, why not???

Nov 1 in New Mexico is Los Dia De Los Muertes in honor of those who have gone before.

Those Q costumes that came to my door on Halloween appeared to be more in this vein than in Halloween. WHAT FOLLOWS MAY BE GRAPHIC!

These Q costumes were similar to the decorations of the Mexican celebration, the headstock had the patina of skeletal remains found in the desert after years of searching and was cracked as if from being squeezed in a vice, there were two lidless horrified eyes staring from where the tuning pegs had rotted away, the truss rod cover had morphed into a toothy death smile or shriek , the remaining tuning pegs resembled the ears of a century old drunk with hair as long as sideburns growing out of them.

The fret board had rotted out and twisted and turned like an exposed spinal cord of a soul in hell. The sound board showed the result of distending from putrefaction and then collapsing like a discarded used condom, showing every ghastly line of its skeletal bracing pattern.

The whole apparation danced on two skeletal legs of an ancient guitar stand, and there was no sign of any human involvement.

I swear, this Q looked like it was DEAD. And in Mexico there is great reverance for the dead.

Writing professionally means doing it for money like ho's. I've done that in the nucleur industry as a QC person and in the federal court as a pro se litigant, also as a politician in a California school board recall election. Nobody ever laughed at those heavy tomes, including me, so I prefer to write in a non-professional way and get a few laughs.

Thanks, I appreciate that, and I think you have some very good posts in my opinion. I think I mentioned that I lived in Poway for 18 years, and worked at General Atomics. I left there in 1980 because of the explosive growth, but we, my wife and four kids, loved San Diego, and Baiey Jr. still lives in San Marcos. He is posting songs on garageband.com as "probity", where he does all the parts, lead, rythym and vocals. He played with our bluegrass band when we had the Poway Bluegrass Club that used to jam at Poway Lake, but he doesn't play bluegrass any more (he's 45 and has a grown son).
