Board Experts I am looking a couple identical twins their names are ADAMAS 1597 One wears 0P-50 on her the other lady wears OP-24+C Otherwise both women are new or all most new virgins. Ms. OP-50 has newer serial number but Ms. 0P-24 is older by 1097 serial numbers. I can sleep with either for ever for the money. If I close my eyes they both feel the same. My guess is Ms. OP-24 is 2001 and her sister is 2002. Now Questions Both girls seem to have factory strings and have little black marker rings around some strings over the frets WHY?(May have found out if I would have made the factory tour) Which OPs do board members like best? Which one of the girls would you take home to meet Mom? Its been 35 years since high school and I had to make such tough decisions over future lovers. Thank you all and Take care Mike

They used to have Optima preamps before the OP50. If you have to choose, get the OP50 over the OP24+C. The 50 has notch filter, more eq, just better. It is also modular, so when the OP60,70,80,etc... come out you can upgrade. Can't do that with the old ones. BTW, I just ordered a W597-CB. Has the OP50, made sure of that. Gonna be sweet....

One store, Summit Guitars in Greensburg PA, has 2001 and a 2003 Collectors editions but they stock deeper in Ovation imports. I was just in Piano's and Stuff, a good store with a large selection of acoustic but only six Ovations, all import, among 80 to 100 acoustics ranging from high end Martin and Taylor to entry level guitars. The GC has one or two USA Ovations but that's it. I suspect the inventory reflects the buying public in Pittsburgh. It seems that USA model Ovations hang around for a long time.

Gee.. I liked the older one better so gave the guy a check brought her to show mother. Mom looks her up and down, turns over on her back side and says "WATS THE 2 AFTER USA UNDER THE #s FOR DID YOU BUY A 2nd" Whooo... I look and it is a 2 after USA. Its hard to tell its could be just weird gain. After a few hours with a loop I found 7s 6s 8s, all the #s, then the whole alphabet, Little birds, and lots of stuff. Do they sell seconds Adamas? Are they marked with a 2? Thanks again Mike

A second is nothing to worry about, it's usually because of a minor cosmetic flaw, rather than anything faulty in the construction or materials. The warranty situation may be different with a second, Al would know. If you bought this guitar new & it is in fact a second, the vendor should have declared it as such.

I believe The warranty with a reconditioned is 1 year and to the best of my knowledge there is no warranty with a 2nd. the seconds are usually cosmetic defects. Anything that has a major flaw is NOT sold but destroyed. if the guitar was represented as new and is a second and you were not told then you have a complaint. If the guitar was very cheap then you should have probably guessed it.

Joined: January 2003 Posts: 49 Location: SunShine State | Thanks for all the replies Well she not a #2 the two was about twice again bigger then the #s or USA. Its just grain in the wood 1 in a 1,000,000,000 chance. Rare, but I also found 003 down 1’ from there. I guess I was just paranoid because she was so cheap I though she was a slut. Now I am thinking about going afer her sister. Over thirty years with Os and Hs this is number seven and the best yet. Now my wife says I need to learn a song she can recognize besides happy birthday & jingle bells. Thanks again all and take care Mike
