Location: Oregon | I recently purchased an older (probably 80's) ovation. It is a mid bowl non-electric model. It had light gauge strings on and sounded abit thin so I went ahead and put on mediums. Is it a good idea to go heavier on such an older Ovation? It actually did not help the sound that much. I know it's been covered but is there an ideal guitar string for ovation? |

Location: Scotland | I use a 13-56 set tuned up to open-E on a '72 Legend which I use for slide. It's been like that for years and hasn't moved at all. Ovations are shipped with lights (12-53) but will take mediums without a problem. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I agree with Paul T with the caveat that it may depend a bit more on the model. If yours has a five piece neck, it should be solid as a rock. But the two piece necks are still well made and sturdy. |
