Just wanted to say that this past Saturday I played the first gig with the new Legend 1867 and it sounded pretty damn good,.. after a long time of dicking with the OP40 I think I finally got it figured out. My vocals were rough since Ive been sick, actually this was the first time I have sang sick so that was a trip in itself. Anyways I was using lemon and honey ,... all the remedys, but nothing was making my voice cut through like it should. so I turned to Jack Daniels, did about five shots trhough the night and stayed away from the beer and it worked like a charm,... I put this up here in case someone might not know of the great powers of Jack Daniels to a lead vocalist. Ya'll take care |

Location: Fort worth Texas | I wasnt using Jack as a cure, but it worked really well for helping my voice hold and sustain notes without breaking especially when I was at the top of my range and for those songs that if the drummer plays a little too fast and you hardly have enough time to catch air to sing the next line at regulat tempo. You guys should try it if ever in the situation I was in. |

Location: NJ | Actually, alcohol's probably the worse thing to be treating your throat with, as the properties of alcohol tend to DRY your throat/vocal chords.
The style in which I sing (combined with the repertoire that we play) has a tendency of wreaking havoc on my pipes. I use this stuff called "Throat Tea" made by a company called Yogi (which I believe is some hippie-dippie ashram out in Oregon). This stuff really works! (for me any way). I keep a stash in my gig bag and the first thing that I do when we show up is ask the barmaid for a big cup of hot water and throw in a teabag (or two, if a goodly-sized mug) and I let it steep (covered with a saucer) while setting up. I just sip it throughout the night, occasionally "rolling" it around the back of my throat (like gargling) if the opportunity permits itself. I usually do two cups a night (one for each two hour set). It's made with cammomile, licorice root, and a bunch of other stuff. I thinks it's probably the licorice root offering the therapeutic value. The taste takes a little getting used to, but at gigs I have enough other shit on my mind that I don't even notice it anymore.
I usually wait until the last half of the last set before I start ordering the shots of Patron. ;) |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Another thing that you may want to try is is "Slippery Elm" Lozenges. They are a natural, herbal lozenge which really helps sooth the pipes. That and a good old H2O normally does the trick for me. I try to stay away from the "good" stuff until after the gig is over and I can relax. I have enough trouble singing and playing without drinking :rolleyes: |

Location: NJ | I get it in local supermarkets in the "herbal tea" section. It's called Yogi "Throat Tea". Or else, find an herbal tea with licorice root (or slippery elm, as John B. suggested). Just keep in mind that ingesting large amounts of licorice can possibly create problems if you have any kind of blood pressure "issues". There IS this other stuff that I've found online called "Entertainer's Secret". It's a spray that you lightly "inhale" as you spray it into your mouth. It's pretty good at keeping your throat from drying out. They label it ". . . pleasing "Honey Apple" flavor . . .".
. . . I think it tastes like shit. |
