Just want to brag on my mother a little bit. Since I have started practicing with a couple of other guys on Friday nights, I began to worry about scuffing up my amp. My mother still sews, quilts and embroiders. The other day she wanted me to take her to a fabric store for some material to use on quilts for a couple of the great grand kids. I ask her if she could make me an amp cover and of course she said she could. I bought some material (naugahyde?)and in a couple of days she had whipped out a handy amp cover, double thickness, padded with a large pocket at each end for cords, tuner; etc.

She is only 92, so what is next, gig bags?

I am really blessed, both my parents are still up and going, my dad is 90 and they both have always encouraged my guitar pickin. They bought me my first guitar, an Airline, I think made by Kay, when I was 13.

Great story xnoel, you are truly blessed to still have both parents alive and well!! My mother is still living (she's 86 & spry) I lost my father in '63. Mom's always like making things for their sons......It's good that your mother can knit & sew.....gives her something to do many years from now when she gets old and wants to retire!! ;)

Take care of her and ask her if she would like to make some more "custom" amp covers for us here on the OFC!!

That is a great story, and it shows that being mature does not lead to being useless.

I suspect your Mother can still give you some good advice as well as make you an amp cover, and I think you should listen to her.
