Can anyone tell me if the top is actually(permamently?) "rippled" by the bracing or does the bracing pattern just show up with temperature changes?(like kind of a "ghost" image?) **** Mike

(j/k...oh now I've done it, after raising all that stink about people belittling Glen Campbell in a previous post  ). At the risk of certainly boring others by dragging out the post on the Glen Campbell pic., but, out of RESPECT to you, in your deserving a reply to your post, I post the following: Steve, I apologize if it sounded like I was directing any negative tones towards you. Again, I was just merely upset with the vultures of society that can rationalize turing a buck from any circumstance/situation. I directed this at those who were trying to sell the picture, not us who laughed at the idiocy of the whole thing. Like Paul M. said, we need to have a sense of humor...and we do, but I think we can all agree that this particulat ebay auction is certainly in bad taste to say the least. Peace Steve, Sorry for the misunderstanding, and thanks for caring enough of what I posted to reply bro! Norse(now...if I find out that YOU are the guy selling the pic...well then SHAME ON YOU! ;) )man1

Or an alternative for some of you: "May the wind be ever at your back... especially if you enter a long drive tournement! May I suggest you learn more about St. Patrck by reading "How the Irish Saved Civilization". And now we return to our regularly scheduled program...

And for Templeman, "May God never close his fist around you!" Ha! Sorry. The visual was just too good to pass up.

They had a long drive on a hole downwind and one on a hole directly into the wind. If I remember right, long drive winner into the wind was about 160yds. Anyone with a slice found their ball in another fairway.

Here in the Pacific Northwest it's handy to know how to bounce of the trees. You can get an extra 30 yards off of a Douglas Fir! I stopped playing golf about 2 years ago. My IQ, my bowling average, my golf score and the greens fees all hit the same number.

You guys can take me if it contains words like McCormack, Country Club, Estates or Semi-ah-moo! Maybe the first OFC NW Open! :D

The top shrinks from lack of moisture, but the round bowl obviously will not ever shrink. It's also why Ovations are prone to verticle finish cracks. Restoring humidty to the proper level will not remove the ripples. (I know from personal experience). In my case, they did not effect the tone or playability of the instrument. But is's a bummer all the same ...

Thanks for sharing that. And what's this "name change" stuff I saw you post about? If it's your OFC handle, I'd keep it, it's got character (...or as P.T. would say, spunk :D )

Then...I took up golf. Everytime one would stick its head up...BAM...one of my worm burners would decapitate the poor creature. When all the prairie dogs were gone...which didn't take long with the way I played, I gave up the sport as there was no more "sport" left.

I like whackin' 'em out there. Let somebody else go find the damned things. About once a bucket I can get one to sail out quite a ways, I can see how that could get to be fun but I don't have time for any more hobbies. I did get some good advice from a friend who plays- If you're caught out on the fairway & a sudden lightening storm pops up, *immediately* go to the most open area & hold a one iron aloft as high as you can! Even God can't hit a one iron. /\/\/

Every 2nd time I'd hit the ball...it'll fall in a little "gopher hole" (must've been left over from peterbright's games) I'd tee up again.....hit ball....fall in gopher hole.....tee up.....hit ball....fall in gopher hole....I'd wind up with a negative score for 18 holes and I'd feel bad 'cause I couldn't get the high scores (over 200+) like my buddies.... ;) ....so I sold my clubs in frustration! :( **** Mike

The Golfers I know tell almost as many tall tales as you guys! and If someone at the gathering hollers "Fore" you only need to cover the soundboard! That way you won't damage the braces.

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 14842 Location: NJ | Only "played" Golf once (and that was only 9 holes - lightning storm ended it). Enjoyed it immensely and was told that I was pretty good at it for a beginner. Need to find someone with enough "patience" to give me a lesson or two. . . Years ago, I went to a Driving Range with some buddies to take out some "frustration" out on a couple buckets of balls. After what seemed an ENDLESS succession of alternating "hooks" and "slices" I was down to the very LAST ball of the last bucket. I stood over the ball and CONCENTRATED for a full minute on "how" I wanted to hit it, and "where" I wanted it to go . . the whole "Zen" thing, . . etc. . . etc. WHACK!!! The ball SAILED!!! Straight, High, Long & Far!!! It was perfect!!! It even "felt" perfect! It felt incredibly easy!!! I then looked at end of my club . . . . . . the head of the driver was missing! The "ball" that I watched travel so perfectly was in fact the decapitated club head. I left the busted club against the fence and sheepishly slipped out . . . .
