As I looked at the photo, it seemed somehow familiar. Like I'd seen a similar photo someplace before ... http://www.OvationFanClub.com/photos/Standingovation_49842_twins.jpg

They look real good side by side... You ever tried playing them both at the same time? You are very fortunate to say the least. Wait a minute... I need to look again... You had another picture there didn't you...

Anyway, the mando is just incredible. Big thanks to the seller! This is the 3rd Ovation mando I've owned and it just blows the others away. I don't know about sound-wise, because I've never had more than one at a time. But the fit and finish is just perfect. A few others on this board have the same mando and they know exactly what I'm talking about. Dave

If there is I'd like to find it. I already have the full size version, and a standard MM68-4 that I thought was the mini me version of the 1768LTD, but now I see something I have never seen before. A new Holy Grail. See what you have done!! My wife is going to be pissed!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!  :p :D

But as I understand it in '96 to celebrate the 30th anniversary the factory made about 100 or so of the 6 strings and then they also made about 30 matched "sets". Each set consisted of a matching 6-string, 12-string, mandolin, bass, viper and long neck. At least that was the plan and each set would sell for something like $15,000. But I think the prospect of selling the sets was low, so they broke them up and sold the individual instruments. The mando is very, very nice. But I would not call it the "holy grail". That distinction would go to the textured top Adamas mando we saw at the factory last year. THAT was the coolest mando I've ever seen. Dave

The book Mando, for some unexplained reason has a brighter, more airy sound. The high notes are more crisp and ringing. I don't know if it's due to better wood top or just by chance. The MM68, however, was not bad - it actually sounded more like a traditional F mando (I have a mid-range Kentucky). When plugged in (I used both in previous gigs), the book mando again came up quite a bit ahead of the MM68. Just my personal experience.

The trick is to gently caress the neck while rythymically applying the picking hand to the upper and lower body while softly singing sweet love songs. Try to avoid fingering the hole at the bottom until the body starts to respond with vibrations of the same magnitude as the stiffness of the pick, if the pick gaurd gets in the way, remove all coverings and proceed to end the song on a HIIIGH note of mutual SWEEET harmony. After that, rather than smoke a cigarette, play some quiet music on your mandolin. Bailey

Seems like I read on some other topic that there is actaully a 4th chord  Maybe somebody can teach it to me at the factory
