I am look at one of these guitars and I am assuming that the top is laminated? Does anyone know for sure. The website just says spruce.

I've played one in music stores on several occasions. I didn't like it.

They are Laminate. All Celebrity Lines are laminate except the occasional collectors series.
I believe the CP2002 Had a Solid Top and Also The Pinnacle and Pinnacle Deluxe Models are Both Solid Tops. The Cp2002 Played OK but dimmed compared to The USA Models. The Pinnacle Deluxe Multi Soundhole Guitar(Like The USA made Elite)
Sounded Pretty Good Actually. I played one of The Double Kneck Models. It Was OK, but The Accoustic Projection was real Thin. I really believe they made those for Stage Work To Be Plugged in. The Bowl actually seemed a tad bit thinner than the Other Shallow Bowl Guitars. Ovation Actually Custom Made Some Double Knecks. Richie Sambora Played One for a Few Years. Boy did It Look Nice.
Ovation could probably Custom Make One For You. But I Imagine it would Hit you Deep In The Pocket.

As everyone has stated prior to me they are laminate.

I have had 2 in the past due to projetcs. They are good guitars overall, not great, but good. Definitely weak on the acoustic sound unplugged as they are more shallow that the shallow bowl. That was done as a convenience to playing the guitar.

Is is primarily a live stage or plugged in and I really think that was the intention for the production of this one.

They are moving on e-bay between $800-$1,000.
Are they worth it? You will have to answer that one. It depends upon your needs.

They are cool looking guitars and oh by the way my understanding is to build a US version at the custom shop will run you about 7-9 times more that the used e-bay price when I priced it out once.
