I'm thinking about ordering an MM68 mandolin, but I've been told that Ovation mandolins have a narrow neck width. My Godin is about 1 1/8 inches wide at the nut--anybody know what the neck width of the MM68 at the nut is?
Any opinions about other features of the MM68? Anything else I should ask about? I understand that the amplified sound is quite good--any opinions about the acoustic sound and volume?
I have other mandos, including arch-top bluegrass-style instruments, and I don't expect a flat-top Ovation to sound like an arch-top F-hole mando. I'm just interested in having a mandolin that will sound good plugged-in, and that will also be reasonably useful when played unplugged. I love my Godin A8, but it is strictly an amplified instrument.

Location: Michigan | Well, I finally managed to navigate the Ovation website and found out that the width is 1 3/16 inches, so that answers that. I'd still appreciate any other feedback about the MM68. :rolleyes: |

I've played mandolin for many years and I would trust Miles to give you what you want, Ovation has some excellent mandolins for today's music.

Location: Fayetteville, NC | The MM68 is a great Instrument.It's not a Bluegrass Mandolin, but it sounds stunning none the less. That Mandolin is on my wish list of Ovations to own. If you want a good price on an MM68, . Check out Miles. The listing in The For Sale Section was a while ago. it's a good price and Miles is Very Trustworty. Email him you won't be sorry. |

I should mention that I played my nephew's Celebrity mandolin and was satisfied with the acoustic sound and really impressed with it's sound plugged in, I wanted one then and still do, another unrequited GAS infatuation. I really liked the way it looked also.

That is a beauty, sure makes my GAS attacks come every 2 minutes sorta like labor. Honey, IT'S TIME, get me to the music store in 15 min. or the WRONG IDEA WILL BE BORN HERE ON THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR!!!!

Location: 6 String Ranch | I think that the first mandos made were with a flat fretboard. The recent ones I've seen are slightly radiused which I've been told is prefered. They all sound great. |
